Healing Martial Arts™
(Kids and Adults)
The Healing Martial Arts™ (HMA) program is Hiruko’s flagship service. HMA is the active integration of physical expressive arts (with an emphasis on Tae Kwon Do), healing arts (Qigong, Tai Chi, and Acupressure) and contemplative practice.
It teaches participants, in an age appropriate way, a comprehensive set of life skills they can actively use for themselves and in their communities. These skills include:
- Knowledge of and deep trust in one’s body
- Steadfast self-confidence; deeply believing in oneself
- A keen sense of self-awareness
- Sharp focus and concentration
- Ability to let go of mistakes and persevere; observable grit
- Overcoming limiting beliefs
- Ability to cope with pressure and stress
- Courage and power to advocate for oneself with boldness and humility
- Ability to create long-term powerful relationships
The HMA curriculum is creatively and continuously woven through the insights and innovations of the students, instructors, founders and advisers and it allows the student to observe, learn, adapt, and combine concepts in ways that are intuitive, motivational, empowering, and – most importantly – enjoyable.
The HMA method was designed by the Hiruko founders. Its core objective is to use the martial arts as a metaphor for being “Unstoppable” in life. The Hiruko black belt represents a commitment to personal excellence inside of the wide and open realm of possibilities available to each participant.

Integral Qigong and Tai Chi™
The healing benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong have been well documented. Using adapted principles from the Integral Institute of Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC), the classes focus on slowing down by mindfully exploring different phases of Qi (life force) cultivation. These classes are an excellent form of exercise for those simply interested in longevity, as well as those suffering or recovering from chronic illnesses who wish to build and maintain overall strength. Our instructors are certified by the IIQTC.
This class is gearing up to resume soon. The class runs in eight-week sessions, once per week. To get our latest class announcements, be sure to get on the registration list by join our Qigong and Tai Chi interest list.
