College Bound: Self-Defense Class for Young Women
Is your girl getting ready to go to college? Are you or is she worried about her safety when she is away? Wouldn’t it be great if she could take a self-defense class that empowers, informs, and builds her confidence in her abilities to be and stay safe? This class is for young women getting ready to go to college and it primarily focuses on self-confidence, self-advocacy, and self-awareness. And yes, we teach the most effective self defense techniques.

Using Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) principles, our Hiruko Mindful Meditation instructors, guide the participants through the process of finding inner quiet, being still, calm, and powerfully present. MBSR was started by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Since its inception, MBSR has evolved into a common form of complementary medicine addressing a variety of health problems. Class session is typically eight weeks long, and silent mediation retreats are also offered.
